George Washington and Jefferson National Forest
Wilderness Canoe is perched in Hiking Paradise. We are adjacent to the
James River Face Wilderness and the Thunder Ridge Wilderness areas.
There are many Hiking Trails within close proximity that meander
through both Wilderness areas as well as the George Washington and
Jefferson National Forests.
Finding and Navigating the trails can be difficult. We are here to help
people find and explore these beautiful and diverse mountain trails.

Spring and Fall are the best times of year
to hike these Wilderness Trails. The
weather is great, the trees and ground are
covered in flowers in Spring and with
nuts and berries in Fall.
Some of the animals you could see
include deer, bear, turkey, fox, grouse,
squirell, rabbit, raccoon... and many
more.
The Wilderness areas are home to a
diverse gathering of plant species,
including some on the Threatened or
Endangered Species List.
